What is a shell?

A shell is a private lobby, shown as a digital card, that holds activities and timemarks for a group of your choosing. Shells can be themed for anything — a friend group, a neighborhood, a running club — in real life or online.

What's a timemark?

A timemark is a moment or plan you drop inside a shell — a memory, an activity, a place to meet. It stays inside the shell, visible only to the people in it.

Can I make my shell public?

Yes. Once a shell reaches its member threshold, the owner can open it up for public discovery. Until then, it stays private to invited members.

How does the magic word work?

A shell owner can set a magic word as a lightweight entry control — a memorable phrase new members need to join, instead of (or alongside) an invite link.

Does ShellTerra need my location?

Some features — the map, and nearby shells/timemarks/activities — use your device location. You can decline location access and still use the rest of the app.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account any time from Settings. This permanently removes your login credentials and personal data. Content you've posted may remain visible under your prior username, consistent with how most social apps handle account removal.

How do I report content or a user?

Every shell, timemark, activity, and message can be flagged directly in the app. You can also block a user, which immediately hides their content from your feed. See our Safety Guidelines for more.
